vegan anniversary and challenge

november 20th, 1997, one week before thanksgiving day (as it will be again this year, coincidentally), after being a vegetarian for a little over 2½ years i decided that the right thing to do would be to become vegan. everything i believed in, all the reasons to be a vegetarian, logically extended into becoming vegan. giving up dairy, eggs, honey, l-cysteine and all the other fun things shoved into everyday products was the best way to combat cruelty to animals, natural habitats, and the global environment found through factory farming.
but enough on reasons...
a lighter note of personal philosophy; being vegan to me is more about effort than outcome. living 100% cruelty free is, in my opinion, essentially impossible. we eat spiders while we sleep, step on bugs while walking to the mailbox, and every paper product we utilize came from a tree that may have been someone's home at one time. more directly we can consumne things unknowingly, for example i received (and immediately noticed) the wrong beverage in a drive through coffee stand. i drank silk soymilk (not a fan) for about 3 weeks due to convenience and availability during may this last year, only to find out that they had a product recall due to unlisted milk proteins. i've discovered local organic produce had been may have waxed with beeswax or shellac. regardless of these setbacks that doesn't mean i'm not trying to do my part, which i think is the most important aspect of being vegan.
but going onto my final point.

those that know me, have often not known of my veganity for some time, people having the misconception that all vegans preach and condemn, something i've never cared for. so my proposal with this is a new idea for me.
i will be hitting my vegantastic 11th anniversary on november 20th (as said before, the thursday before thanksgiving), and i want to propose a challenge/idea to anyone willing to bite.
either november 20th, or any other day you are interested in investing in, i challenge my friends to live a day being as vegan as possible. i don't expect you to go buy non-leather shoes if you don't already own some, or have your couches reapholstered, but for all realistic intents, especially in food consumption live without consuming any animal products or biproducts.
if this interests you comment or email me. we can talk about options and ideas to keep you not only satiated, but truly enjoying a full day in this lifestyle.
if you're one of my closeby friends maybe we can make a date of it and do this together.
any other vegans/vegetarians reading this, i encourage you to share this experience with others. anniversary or not, invite any and all to live the vegan or vegetarian lifestyle with yourself. we know how to enjoy life this way, lets see that we show others as well.
